Bosworth Flexable Resin Cable Joint

Two-part polyurethane cable-jointing resin, with the mould selected to the cable

The Bosworth Flexable Resin Cable Joint is a two-part polyurethane casting resin for electrical cable jointing and repair in mining and industrial applications, supplied by Kia-Kaha Mining with cable-specific moulds and application consumables. The resin is supplied in a sealed foil pack for easy mixing and a fast cure; the mould and pack are selected to the cable construction, outside diameter, conductor size and joint configuration.

Moulds & consumables

Selecting the mould

  • Mould size 1: conductor 1.5–4.0 mm²; cable outside diameter 6–15 mm
  • Mould size 2: conductor 4–16 mm² up to four-core; cable outside diameter 15–23 mm
  • Mould size 3: conductor 16 mm²; cable outside diameter 38–45 mm
  • Mould size 4: conductor 25–35 mm²; cable outside diameter 42–50 mm
  • Larger mould / resin-pack combinations selected by cable outside diameter and resin volume
  • PVC FR tape, release agent, bonding agent and application consumables

Mould ranges are the current working reference — confirmed against the current Bosworth data sheet for the exact cable and joint.

Certificate / report no.
MASC 26-4548
Issue / revision
Issued 08 June 2026
Scope
MASC (SANAS test lab) test to the flammability requirements of SANS 1520-1 (2022) Ed 2.1. The samples tested complied. Covers the samples submitted, for use in South Africa — not a voltage rating; not supported outside South Africa.

Buyer questions

Common questions

By the cable type, number of cores and conductor size, and by the cable outside diameter measured accurately. The moulds cover conductor ranges from 1.5 mm² up to 25–35 mm² and cable outside diameters from about 6 mm to 50 mm; larger combinations are selected by outside diameter and resin volume. Confirm the mould against the current data sheet with your enquiry.

Testing

MASC flammability test

Footage from the MASC flammability test on a Bosworth Flexable Resin Cable Joint sample. MASC tested it to the flammability requirements of SANS 1520-1 and the samples tested complied — see report 26-4548 (08 June 2026). It is a flammability test on the samples submitted, for use in South Africa, not a voltage rating.
